7 Questions with...Cyanotic

7 Questions with...is Reactor 4s interview segment. Sometimes these will be done live via digital recorders, sometimes they will done via email or internet chat. Why only 7 questions? Really the answer is just, because. That was the number we came up with. Much like our show, these interviews will be serious and silly.

Cylon78 of Reactor 4 interviews Sean Payne of Cyanotic.

Question 1,
Transhuman 2.0 is here. What was behind the decision to make what more or less amounts to a whole new version of Transhuman?

A - We had a bunch of people wanting to work with Cyanotic at the same time. Front Line, 16 Volt, Rabbit Junk and a couple other bands were all offering collaborations and we didn't want to pass 'em up. Also, the original "Transhuman" CD was just about sold out of its initial pressing by the time these bands were wanting to work with us. We were just setting ourselves up at a new studio with a new co-producer (Jason Prost of MindFluxFuneral) around the same time, so everything was in place. We put in eight months of hard work and got to experiment with production a lot, figure out what fits and what doesn't, learning for the new album!

Question 2,
Outside of Coldwave, or Industrial for that matter, what other music styles drive you? Will you list some favorite non-Industrial bands?

A - Metal like Sepultura, Chimaira and Meshuggah. drum 'n' bass like Evol Intent and Counterstrike. Old school gangsta rap is a must ... N.W.A., Ice Cube, Westside Connection, Geto Boys! Aphex Twin, Radiohead, Deftones, Failure, Techno Animal, Peter Gabriel, Curve, White Zombie, Gridlock and Beck!

Question 3,
What does "the road" smell like?

A - Six men who forgot deodorant. The van usually smells like a bag of Doritos.

Question 4,
Do you have side projects that you really want people to be aware of?

A - There are at least a couple projects coming up soon. Cyanotic / Glitch Mode will be helping with production for the new InfoCollapse (elektro-metal type stuff), working on additional programming for the new Acumen Nation album, an untitled experimental hip hop project and an untitled project featuring members of Chemlab, Caustic and Psyclon Nine.

Question 5,
Remember that one time?

A - Maybe?

Question 6,
We know that you are a huge fan and supporter of Coldwave. S0me have made comparisons between Coldwave and the new influx of Metal Industrial. What is your take on Coldwave vs Metal Industrial?

A - As long as its good Industrial metal that doesn't sound like a bunch of Motorhead fans with a drum machine and good coldwave that doesn't have bad production or really lame rock choruses -- its all good to us!

Question 7,
Boxers or Briefs?

A - Usually neither
